Cable Natural History Museum holdsOfficial Grand Opening/New Exhibit Opening

The public is invited to join the Cable Natural History Museum on Saturday, May 23rd from 2-4pm to celebrate their official Grand Opening and Building Dedication. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will occur at 2:30pm.

The event will kick-off the Museum’s first summer season in its new home and celebrate the opening of Brain Teasers2, a nationally traveling exhibit, and the new permanent Curiosity Center.

Brain Teasers2, produced and toured by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, invites visitors to explore the brain and what it can do. Brain Teasers2, appearing now through January 2010, offers 20 challenges for puzzle enthusiasts of all ages and is designed to sharpen problem-solving skills and provide plenty of fun. Visitors can come back and try again if they don’t solve all the puzzles on their first visit!

In the Curiosity Center , you can stage a puppet show, crawl through a fallen log in search of animals, read a book, or listen to owls beneath the night sky. This exhibit is a permanent feature and provides a place for children and their families to explore the natural history of northern Wisconsin .

The new facility, using geothermal energy, among several other sustainable features, was completed last August and exhibited Paradise Lost through the end of the year. Although construction has ended, approximately $500,000 is still needed to complete the $1.8 capital campaign that began in 2006.

This Museum welcomes the public to view the new exhibits and celebrate their new home. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations necessary.
