Current Exhibit
Curiosity Center

GET CURIOUS! Come see our new Curiosity Center! Stage a puppet show in our theater, crawl through a fallen log in search of animals, read a book, or listen to owls beneath the night sky. Back by popular demand, we’ve taken Kate Wright’s artistic diorama and Lois Nestel’s taxidermy mounts to design a new, three-dimensional version of the diorama we all knew and loved in the previous Museum facility. This exhibit will be a permanent feature and provide a place for children and their families to explore the natural history of northern Wisconsin. Let the adventure begin! Our exhibit hall is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

New Year's Resolutions:  Exercise your
Brain in 2009!

Can you separate two linked metal hearts and then reassemble them? Arrange standard geometric shapes to create startling new ones? Solve a maze that is apparently unsolvable? In Brain Teasers 2, you can! The Museum is featuring Brain Teasers 2, an exhibit that offers fun for the entire family with a variety of mind benders to challenge even the most experienced problem solver. This exhibit presents a wide array of challenges - from mathematical conundrums to mind-boggling block puzzles - for individuals of all ages. To solve these puzzles, visitors must use creative thinking and problem-solving strategies such as looking for patterns, thinking ahead, setting aside preconceived ideas, and looking at problems from different perspectives.  Brain Teasers 2 was created and is toured by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Participants can also learn about animal intelligence through the Cable Natural History Museum’s companion exhibit. Make a visit to our Museum as part of your summer plans.

TESTIMONIALS

“I would definitely recommend this exhibit, and have to other museums, as I feel it reaches a wide audience. Perfect multi-generational hands-on exhibit allowing visitors to challenge themselves, as well as learn from each other. Not to mention the support we received from OMSI was amazing.”

Children’s Museum of the East End, Bridgehampton, NY

“Entire exhibit was grand attraction. The museum hosted Brain Teasers and Brain Teasers 2 for a six-month stay. The exhibit was quite popular with our visitors – with many coming back to try and solve all the puzzles! Simple to put together. Engaged adults too!”

Long Island Children’s Museum, Garden City, NY
