Natural Dyes Workshop
Saturday, August 4 @ 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM$55 - $65
Explore the art of using local plants for natural dyeing with instructor Theresa Hornstein, a Duluth-based artist, biologist, and avid gardener. Learn how to prepare dyes, mordant fibers, and modify your colors after dyeing to create unique yarns. We will discuss ethical harvesting, methods of dyeing, and even do a little collecting. You will go home with seven 25-yard skeins of yarn you dyed. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting spotted. Meet at the Cable Natural History Museum from 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and bring a sack lunch. Register by July 28 by calling 715-798-3890 or go to cablemuseum.org. $55 member/$65 non-member includes all materials.
